Terms and conditions
This site is owned and operated by the Galloway Astronomy Centre  (“GAC”, “we” or “us”). If you have any questions about
these terms and conditions, or have any comments or complaints on or about our website, please contact us. We may
change these terms & conditions from time to time without notice to you. Changes will apply to any subsequent orders
received.
Our products
We endeavour to depict our products as accurately as possible. However, minor variations in colour or packaging may occur
between batches. These variations will not impact on the product’s optical or mechanical performance in any way other
than ‘cosmetically'. We will confirm the price of the total price of your order including VAT and carriage (if applicable) at
the time of your order.
Privacy
We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in
accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998). We collect information about you for 2 reasons: first, to process your order
and secondly, provide you with the best possible service. Information we hold will be accurate and up to date. You can
check the information that we hold about you by emailing us. Any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.
 
Payment
Please note that all prices are in British pound sterling; all transactions must be made in this currency.
We accept personal cheques, postal orders and banker’s drafts/money orders. Cheques and postal orders should be made
payable to Galloway Astronomy Centre. We are currently unable to accept credit and debit cards, but hope this will be
rectified soon.
It is the buyer’s responsibility to provide an accurate delivery address and contact telephone number - incorrect details
may lead to a significant delay in dispatch.
Whilst every effort will be made to maintain the prices indicated, it may not always be possible, therefore, we reserve the
right to discontinue any items from this list and change prices when necessary.
We are unable to ship outside the UK.
 
Delivery
Large items are shipped by specialist courier direct from OVL Ltd. The UK standard service is free of charge for orders of
£100 or more. A £5 delivery charge is applicable for any order under £100. Orders from customers from the Highlands,
Islands and N. Ireland may be subject to additional delivery charges. You will be contacted with additional information on
these charges. All goods must be signed for by an adult aged 18 years or over on delivery. In case of non-delivery, please
contact your local post office or depot in the first instance, as they may have tried to deliver at a time when no one was
available to sign for the parcel.
We don’t deliver to Post Office (PO) boxes or shipping agent addresses.
Items will be dispatched once payment has cleared. Cheques need a minimum of 5 working days clearance time before
goods are dispatched, therefore, please allow 14 working days for delivery. We will advise should the delivery period be
longer. In case of non-delivery, please contact us to obtain the postage reference number.
 
General Terms
We will take all reasonable precautions to keep the details of your order and payment secure, but, unless we are negligent,
we cannot be held liable for any losses caused as a result of unauthorized access to information provided by you. The
contract between us shall be governed by Scottish Law and any dispute between us will be resolved exclusively in the
courts of Scotland.
 
We do not guarantee that this website will be compatible with your PC, and we accept no liability for any corruption or loss
of data held on your PC or any liability for any other loss or damage of any kind caused to your PC resulting from use of
this website.
 
Return
Customers in the UK are covered by the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000. This allows for a 7
working day cancellation period after the day the goods are received, and gives you the right to return the goods ordered,
and to receive a refund, less shipping costs, within 30 days of the goods being received by the GAC. You are required to
notify us of cancellation by post or e-mail.
New goods have a warranty period of 12 months from the date of purchase. If faults occur during the warranty period, we
will either repair or replace at our discretion. Goods may be returned at anytime when out of warranty, carriage paid by
you, for repair at a cost to be agreed before repair work starts.
If you wish to return an item to us for exchange, refund or under warranty, please telephone us first on 01988 500594 to
obtain your Returns Goods Number (RGN). This number should be written on the Returns Form (which will be e-mailed or
posted to you) and which must accompany the returned to speed up the processing of your return. Please note that RGN
codes cannot be obtained via e-mail.
We ask you NOT to return goods to us without an RGN code as this will delay the processing of any exchange or refund
due.
Please note that items returned for reasons other than a fault, they must be sent unused, unsoiled, complete with all
original packaging and parts, and accompanied by a Returns Form completed in full, no later than 7 days from receipt.
Please do not mark or label the goods in any other way. Failure to carry out the above will result in a 20% restocking
charge.
For returning goods we advise that you use Royal Mail Recorded Delivery or equivalent. Please retain the shipping
reference number as proof of postage.
Refunds will be processed within 30 days of notification of cancellation. Please note that postage costs are only refundable
at the discretion of the GAC.
