Equipment Telescopes Telescopes are available for all levels of experience. The equipment includes: - Emery 16" f5 Newtonian Reflector on Fork Mount with RA and Dec drives. This is housed in our 3m square roll off roof observatory - 10" f6 Dark Star Dobsonian Reflector - Orion Optics 8" f6 Reflector with Skysensor 2000 GOTO - Helios ST102 4" refractor on EQ mount At the start of November 2006 the mirrors for the 16" and 10" telescopes were taken to Orion Optics Ltd, Crewe for re-aluminising with the high quality "Hilux" finish. Now back in their mounts the mirrors should give great views of the night sky for many more years. Eyepieces available include – TeleVue, Vixen Lanthanum LV, Antares W70 and Moonfish. Imaging Equipment Starlight Xpress HX516 Monochrome CCD camera for deep sky imaging Mintron Astro Video Camera with PC interface – a camera with amazing sensitivity for real-time viewing of deep sky objects. Manual 35mm SLR camera and adaptor (don't forget to bring some film) Piggy back camera mount on 16" scope Now with the HX516 or video camera you can make images of astronomical objects and take them home on CD. Misc. White light solar filter to fit 8" Orion Telescope bracket for lightweight digital cameras Every effort is made to have the above equipment available at all times. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment, however, this is done so at your own risk. Remember no matter how late into the night you want to observe we will not leave you to struggle with unfamiliar equipment. Guidance Basic training on the use of all equipment will be provided. If you are completely new to astronomy we can take you through the basics of recognising constellations to the location of planets and deep sky objects.
